Lesson Cancellation Policy

In order to keep our prices low we have a late cancellation policy. Should you need to cancel or change your lesson time we simply ask for at least 48 hours’ notice which enables our instructors to offer your time slot to another pupil. Less than 48 hours’ notice will mean the lesson can be charged at the instructor’s discretion. For lessons longer than 1 hour or any block bookings, we request that you give your instructor as much notice as possible. As with most other driving schools (and other practices such as Dentists, etc), the late cancellation charge is due to the loss of earnings incurred, especially due to the high demand of our instructors and considering a lot of our instructors have a waiting list. Short notice lesson cancellation, failed attendance or late arrival disrupts service for other pupils. Our instructors are self-employed and only get paid for attended lessons, they do not get paid a salary. Continued late notice cancellations may result in a pupil being asked to pre-pay for lessons or the instructor not making any further appointments with the pupil. Driving lesson cancellations must be made DIRECTLY to your instructor (and not DFA Training). We trust you will understand our policy and thank you for your cooperation.

Pre-booked lessons must be taken within a 6 month period from the date of the first lesson.

If the instructor advises on a course of lessons and a test is booked at the end, but you have not reached the required standard before your test or have not taken the agreed amount of lessons, the instructor will advise you to change your test date. Any test fees lost are not the responsibility of DFA Training.

The instructor has the right to withdraw their car for the driving test should the instructor feel the pupil is not up to the required standard.
Lessons can sometimes be conducted in a pupil’s car. This is at the discretion of the instructor and the instructor will decide whether they believe the pupil is of a required standard.

DFA Training cannot guarantee pupils any particular lesson days, times, or instructors. There is no guarantee of a pupil passing a test or reaching test standard in any given time.

We cannot guarantee use of an instructor’s car for a test. In unforeseen circumstances such as an instructor becoming ill or their car being unavailable for test, the instructor will advise the pupil to reschedule or cancel their test it if the pupil cannot source an alternative car. If the pupil can’t reschedule or cancel the test due to time restrictions and misses their test, the instructor will refund the pupil.

All instructors are self-employed and not employed by DFA Training. All instructors are self-employed franchisees and licensed and regulated by the Government’s Driving Standards Agency. Instructors use their own insurance, vehicle and equipment. If a claim is made it should be made directly to your instructor.

DFA Training accepts no liability for the acts, omissions or negligence of the driving instructor or any injury, loss or damage arising from the use of the tuition vehicle. DFA Training will not accept responsibility for advance payments or cash, or cheques payable to instructors. DFA Training will not accept any responsibility for any acts, default or failure on the part of the Instructor to carry out his/her obligations. Any monetary transactions between pupils and instructors is purely between the 2 parties involved and not in any way connected to DFA Training. DFA Training bears no responsibility for the attitude or behaviour of its franchisees.

Any complaints against an instructor working for DFA Training should be taken up with your instructor first, and if not resolved should then be directed to DFA Training. DFA Training will only deal with a complaint directly from the pupil concerned.
